The latest releases on Explain Everything Web and Promethean ActivSuite^TM are packed with updates from importing and converting ActivInspire flipcharts to key enhancements like status messages on cloud syncing. Let’s go over some of our favorite new features and some of the enhancements you can expect from your favorite whiteboard tool! 

Easily convert your existing ActivInspire files 

We’ve made it easier than ever to switch from ActivInspire to Explain Everything. With our new flipchart conversion tool, Explain Everything works behind the scenes to pull content from your ActivInspire files. 

You may be wondering why this is such an important feature. With thousands of teachers using ActivInspire on a daily basis, this is an easy way to upgrade your digital whiteboard to the latest and greatest technology Promethean has to offer!  

Our top 6 reasons to make the switch from ActivInspire include:

The best part: all you have to do is simply import your flipchart files. To import, navigate to your Explain Everything drive on your browser or Promethean ActivSuite Whiteboard. Click New to start a new project. Then click File and choose your flipchart file to import. Explain Everything then works its magic to convert your flipchart file. 

Once imported, you can edit your new Explain Everything file and open up more possibilities for learning! 

Every slide is imported into your new project, with content able to be edited right in Explain Everything and Promethean ActivSuite Whiteboard. This allows you to take advantage of Explain Everything’s suite of tools to amp up your lessons! 

Your original ActivInspire files remain unchanged in your local storage, meaning you can hang on to them or edit as needed. 

Exciting new features 

ActivInspire importing isn’t the only inspiring feature with this release.  

Directly from the Add Media menu, you can now add content directly from Google Images. We’ve automatically enabled SafeSearch to filter out unwanted images, so you can rest assured no inappropriate images will be seen by your students.

A mini-map now appears when you move around your canvas, allowing you to navigate your project with ease. Want to change that feature? Don’t worry; we added the ability to personalize this feature in Settings. 

Finally, we’ve expanded our library of background patterns. From new grid options to writing lines, we have everything you need to get started creating.

Everything you need with enhancements 

We’ve enhanced some of the features you love to make Explain Everything easier to use. 

• Stylus touch fixes: When you use the ActivPen or a stylus in Draw mode, it will always write. When you use the Touch input, the ActivPen allows you to select items and act as a pointer to draw attention to key parts in the lesson. This change helps reduce friction in the classroom when using Explain Everything. You can adjust this feature in the Preference menu. 
• Cloud syncing notice: When content is saving, a status message appears when it’s syncing to the cloud. This allows everyone you’re collaborating with to quickly see that changes are being saved! 
• Page locking on import: Now there’s no need to worry about accidentally moving pages on documents when you’re importing them. You can immediately lock the pages to keep them where you imported them on the canvas. 
• Palm and block erasing: When using Explain Everything Web or Promethean ActivSuite on a computer attached to your ActivPanel, it now detects when you’re erasing with your palm or ActivPanel Eraser. This keeps your lesson moving as you no longer have to click the Erase Tool from the Explain Everything toolbar.
